Our Google Analytics GA4 integration requires a CallTracking event to be created in GA4, and to do so we require the following set-up in GA4.
Step 1: we need to create a data stream and API key. Login to your Google Analytics GA4 property and click on ‘Admin’ in the bottom left menu:
Step 2. Next, click on ‘Data Streams’. If you don’t have a data stream setup, please create one, more information on doing this is here:
Step 3. Click on the relevant data stream you will be associating to the CallTracking event:
Step 4. You will then need to make a note of the Measurement ID (NOT stream ID) as we need this ID to complete the set-up in the VCT integrations platform.
Once noted, click on ‘Measurement Protocol API Secrets’ to create an API key:
Step 5. Click on ‘Create’ and enter a nickname for your API key, in this case we have used ‘CallTracking’. Once created there will be a secret value. Make a note of the API key as we require this key to complete the set-up in the VCT integrations platform.
Step 6: You will then need to make a note of the API secret value. Once noted, exit back to the admin page.
Step 7: Now we create a CallTracking event. Select the Admin icon at the bottom of the left-hand menu
Step 8: Select Events from the Data Display window.
Step 9: Select ‘Create event’ blue button
Step 10: in the ‘Create events’ window, select ‘Create’ blue button.
Step 11: Configure your CallTracking event using the below set-up.
Final step: The GA4 ‘CallTracking’ event is successfully set up, and will automatically appear under Events in GA4 when GA4 detects its first phone call.
Please provide us with the following information so we can complete the Google Analytics GA4 integration in the VCT Integration Platform:
